Katherine Lorenz
Katherine Lorenz is the Deputy Director for the Institute for Philanthropy (www.instituteforphilanthropy.org), whose mission is to increase effective philanthropy in the UK and internationally. Through offices in London and New York, the Institute for Philanthropy provides education and advisory services to donors, builds philanthropy networks in the UK and around the world, and works to raise the awareness and understanding of philanthropy. Prior to her work with the Institute for Philanthropy, Ms. Lorenz lived and worked in Oaxaca, Mexico for nearly six years where she co-founded Puente a la Salud Comunitaria (www.puentemexico.org), a non-profit organization working to eradicate malnutrition and advance food sovereignty in rural Oaxaca through the integration of amaranth into the local diet. Before founding Puente, she spent two summers living and working in rural, poor communities in Latin America with the volunteer program Amigos de las Américas and now serves on their Program Committee and is a trustee of the Amigos de las Americas Foundation. Additionally, she serves on the Boards of Directors of the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, the Endowment for Regional Sustainability Science, Resource Generation, and the Amaranth Institute. Along with her family, Ms. Lorenz is a member of the Global Philanthropists Circle (through the Synergos Institute) and is an active participant in the GPC Next Generation subgroup. Ms. Lorenz holds a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from Davidson College.

Amelia Renkert-Thomas

Amelia ran her family's 5th generation manufacturing company for 13 years, 10 as President, managing two generational transition processes. She currently serves on the board of directors of her family's business and has served on a variety of advisory boards to other family businesses as well.

A former partner of Withers Bergman LLP, an international private client law firm, and now of counsel to the firm, Amelia has extensive knowledge of sophisticated estate and transfer tax planning strategies and experience designing and implementing complex estate plans and asset holding structures for global business and financial families. Amelia has managed the day-to-day operations of a "virtual" family office and has served on the advisory boards of multi-family offices.
